In 2009, Waratah marks a major milestone by celebrating it's 125th anniversary of Waratah rural wire products. In 1884, John Lysaght established a mill to produce wire netting in the Sydney suburb of Five Dock, on the Parramatta river, and the rest as they say, is history.
It all began in 1859 when Thomas Austin released 24 wild rabbits at his Barwon Park property near Geelong in Victoria. It is from this point forward that the demand for fencing began to soar!
